BEATRICE DRYER Obituary

On March 1, 2023, Mrs. Beatrice Sachs Dryer left us after a brief illness. Mrs Dryer was born 96 years ago in Marcus Hook, PA and moved with her family to Annapolis, MD, where she lived until her marriage.

Growing up as an apprentice for her parents, Mr and Mrs Michael Sachs, who were both tailors, she was immersed in both design and production of made -to -order suits. That early experience influenced her for the rest of her life.

After graduating from Annapolis High school, she pursued her interests and received a First Prize in Art Design upon her graduation in 1947 from the Maryland Institute of Fine Arts.

Following college, Mrs Dryer married the love of her life Ensign Harold (Harry) Dryer who had recently graduated from the Naval Academy. For the next 20+ years they moved around the United States while increasing their family.

They remained active in various Congregations and volunteered for Temple functions and organizations. Mrs Dryer also pursued various hobbies in the textile arts, and learned the art of Stained Glass.

After retiring from the Navy, the Dryers designed a house in Southampton NJ, where they lived together until Harry's death in 2010. Following his death, Mrs Dryer resided alone.

Mrs Dryer was predeceased by her husband, Lieutenant Commander Harry Dryer (Ret), her parents Mike and Ida Sachs, her brothers, Frank and Paul Sachs, her sisters, Sarah Morris and Annie Friedman. She was also predeceased by a granddaughter Katherine L. Dryer.

She is survived by sons, Mark Dryer and Richard Dryer, and a daughter, Leslie R. Patton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Avram, Elizabeth, Michael, Joshua, Jeff, Dani, Jeffrey, Dimitry, and Sasha; and ten Great- Grandchildren. Family has always been the most important thing to her.

A celebration of her life will be presented by Rabbi Lautman on March 8, 2023 at 2pm. The service will be held in the chapel of the Brigadier General William C Doyle Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.  BERSCHLER and SHENBERG
